VirtualLab Fusion users typically have ray tracing software, such as: Zemax, Code V, or FRED. VirtualLab software does not compete with these ray tracing programs, because it uses fully vectorial fast physical optics modeling when ray tracing is not as accurate.
As your optical simulation and design are increasingly affected by diffraction, interference, polarization, wavefront aberrations and coherence, ray tracing becomes less accurate, and physical optics becomes more important.
VirtualLab Fusion software provides fully vectorial solution of Maxwell's equations for accurate physical optics modeling.
VirtualLab Fusion includes multiple Maxwell solvers and propagation methods all within one software suite. This is for accurate modeling in applications with features approaching, and even shorter than, the wavelength of light, as well as for complex optical systems requiring both free space and rigorous analysis.
